Out of State Foster

"Why We Don’t Accept Out-of-State Fosters"

We’re so grateful for the outpouring of love and support we receive from people across the country who want to help our rescue dogs. But we want to be honest and clear: we do not place dogs in foster homes outside the state of Florida, and here’s why.

Our rescue is based in Central Florida and the West Coast of Florida. Even within our own state, driving north or south can take 4 hours—heading west, even longer. That alone is a lot for volunteers and adopters. Now imagine transporting a dog to Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, or California—it’s just not realistic.

Here’s why out-of-state fostering doesn’t work for us:

  • Transport is exhausting – for both the dog and the volunteers. It's hours of driving just to get the dog to a foster home.

  • Emergencies happen – what if the dog gets sick? What if the dog doesn’t get along with your pets? What if you change your mind? Getting the dog back is a logistical nightmare.

  • Behavior or health issues can come up – and if you're out-of-state, we can’t support you or the dog effectively.

  • Most importantly: it hurts their chances of adoption – 90% of our adopters are here in Florida. People are less likely to adopt a dog they have to drive 6–12 hours to meet. The farther the dog is, the fewer chances they have to find a forever home.

This isn’t about being picky, it’s about being practical and responsible. Our first priority is always the dog’s wellbeing and giving them the best shot at adoption.

If you're located in Florida and want to foster, we'd love to hear from you. Thank you for understanding and continuing to support our mission.
