akira

Hi there, I’m Akira. I’m a 7-year-old Husky with striking blue eyes and a heart that’s learning to trust again. Life hasn’t always been kind to me, but I’m slowly realizing that there are good people out there—people who are patient, kind, and willing to show me that love is something I can count on.

For a long time, I didn’t get to experience much of the world, but now I absolutely love going on adventures. Car rides, new places, meeting new people—I’m all for it! Whether we’re running errands or grabbing a bite to eat, I’ll be right by your side, ready to take it all in.

I may take a little time to warm up, but once I do, I’ll melt right into you for belly rubs and scratches. I love being brushed, and my foster mom says I’m the easiest Husky to bathe (which, let’s be honest, is pretty rare!). I don’t mind if you touch my paws, ears, or even my teeth—I just enjoy being close to the people I trust.

I get along well with my foster Husky sister, though we sometimes bicker about who gets to go first. (I think it should be me, of course!) As for my foster cat brothers, I like them too, but sometimes I need a little reminder to give them space.

I have a playful side, and I’m absolutely obsessed with toys—especially balls! Sharing isn’t exactly my strong suit yet, but I’m working on it. “Drop it” is still a bit of a debate in my mind, but hey, progress is progress!

I know how to sit, come, stay, and wait (especially at doors). I’m still learning “down,” “drop it,” and “leave it,” but I’m a smart girl, and I love to learn—especially if treats are involved. I walk beautifully on a leash and enjoy meeting new people and their dogs. Sometimes I get a little grumpy when I don’t want to do something, but I respond best to gentle guidance with a leash rather than collar corrections.

Because I spent so much time in a crate before, it’s not my favorite place. I’ll tolerate it if I have a chew toy or a treat, but what I really want is to be close to my people. That’s where I feel safest.

Now, I’m just looking for a family who will love me for who I am—someone who will be patient with me as I continue to open my heart and discover what it means to truly belong. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and adventurous best friend, I’d love to meet you.

I am spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped—ready for my forever home.
