Maple's First Year
—The Broken Oreo Philosophy—
Short and sweet today. I just wanted to commemorate a big milestone! One year ago, we adopted our first husky through Husky Haven of Florida, Maple. At the time her name was Holly, we changed her name and she changed our lives. Adopting a dog is a serious commitment and should never be taken lightly. It can change your life in unpredictable ways, luckily for us, Maple changed our lives in all the good ways. Sure, we witnessed some of the uglier sides of certain people in the world when they made their opinions about her disabilities known, but in the end it was the beginning of something wonderful. Because of Maple we work with this great rescue, we adopted Dallas, we started the Handicapables, we met many new wonderful people, and we have the opportunity to teach true compassion to the future generations. Never did I think adopting this 28 pound ball of fur would change my life in so many beautiful ways! There were a thousand small magical moments, but here’s an overview of some of the biggest moments over the last year.
